Manchester United’s proposed Qatari investors hold serious plans to develop the club’s infrastructure if they are to be successful in their bid for the club.

Who is taking over Manchester United?

This month’s soft deadline has now passed for offers to be submitted to potentially take over from the Glazer family at Old Trafford.

One of the proposals to reportedly have been lodged is that from a Qatari-based group which would see the Glazer family completely step aside.

And it is believed this group have greater plans for the Premier League giants than just improvements on the pitch.

Indeed, speaking on his YouTube channel, journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed the Qatari group have plans to develop the cub’s infrastructure:

“Also important to mention that they really want to upgrade the club’s infrastructure. This is something crucial, so it means the stadium, Old Trafford, they want to invest money to modernise Old Trafford and also the training facilities.”

Are Manchester United being taken over by the Qataris?

The Qatari-based investors were not the only party to express their interest in the possibility of taking over from the Glazers at Old Trafford.

It is believed Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the founder of INEOS, has also lodged his interest in the club with his bid believed to cover the Glazers’ majority share.

However, there could well be some concerns as to whether the British investor would be able to provide United with the same financial backing as that from Qatar.

In his statement, Ratcliffe shared his desire to bring upgrades to Old Trafford, but there was little talk of the potential changes to the club’s infrastructure that he would look to make.

In the same breath, the offer from Qatar will bring its own issues with serious concerns over the country’s human rights record – especially on the back of the controversial 2022 World Cup.

But they would not be the only club in the Premier League to potentially receive backing from the Middle East which may lead to some fans being open to this possibility.

Newcastle United and Manchester City have shown big improvements since their Middle Eastern takeovers were completed which would prove appealing to some at United.

Despite the issues which will surround the proposed bid from the Qatari group, it is apparent their arrival at Old Trafford could bring a lot of change both on and off the pitch.
