The Norwegian became only the third player to achieve such a feat in the competition, following Lionel Messi and Luiz Adriano. Guardiola referred to the striker as 'a joy of a guy' and praised his mentality saying, 'It's difficult to score goals when you don't touch the ball for 40-50 minutes,' but 'he can do it'.

Haaland told reporters after the match that he didn't have to say much because 'we won 7-0 and I scored five goals' but insisted that the game proved that City are contenders to win the Champions League.
