Eintracht fans had been banned from the game following unrest during the first leg of their two game fixture. Hundreds of ticketless Eintracht fans nevertheless arrived in the city, clashing with local police. Police in riot gear used tear gas to disperse the fans who threw chairs and shot projectiles and flares at the officers.
